Gloves are an important part of my life
Johannes Høsflot Klæbo is one of the most influential cross-country skiers of his generation and has helped shape the modern era of the sport. Known for his explosive sprinting ability, technical precision and innovative racing style, he has established himself among the world’s leading athletes in cross-country skiing. Competition at the highest level continues to evolve, with new talents constantly emerging, but Johannes remains at the forefront through his relentless drive, attention to detail and passion for continuous improvement.
Johannes has worked with Hestra since 2017, and through a close collaboration with our design department he has also developed his own signature model, Ergo Grip Race Cut in pink and black.
"I always wear the same gloves at all sprint competitions, and I use them in training as well. It's Ergo Grip Race Cut with my own signature on it, in pink of course. A sprint race is only three minutes, but as there are four races in one day, it becomes really important to stay warm and active. I usually change into dry race gloves 9 minutes before the start, and then I switch to warmer gloves immediately after the finish," says Johannes.
"I am super pleased about the collaboration with Hestra, we have a constant dialogue. I'm a bit of a nerd and very careful with the details, and I love to work with dedicated professionals," says Johannes.
Johannes uses his own official competition glove, Ergo Grip Race Cut, at lower temperatures, both during training and at normal distance competitions. The glove has Lycra on the backhand and stretch polyester on the palm. Fleece nose wipe on the thumb and touchscreen-friendly material on the middle and index fingers for a secure grip.
For Johannes, gloves are an essential part of both training and competition. He always wears gloves during exercise, even when roller skiing on a hot summer day, to achieve the same grip and feel that he relies on during races. His attention to detail extends beyond performance and reflects a broader appreciation for having the right equipment for every activity.

"I'm a little obsessed with gloves to be honest, it's become a way of life for me. Every autumn I go hunting with my grandfather, then I use outdoor gloves. When I dress up, I wear fashion gloves. I use Hestras golf glove when I play golf, cycling gloves when I bike and when I ski downhill I use alpine gloves. It's just a whole lot of different gloves," says Johannes.
